re. Make and Break Levers.

For some time now we have noticed that the Delco Company have adopted a new pattern of make and break lever in which the material of the pressing forming the arm is folded flat on itself giving a simple eye section, and ears are arranged to continue from the section where required to form attachments for the rubbing block and contact point.

The virtue of this lever appears to lie in its lighter weight compared with the open 'U' section normally employed, and it should be possible to achieve higher speeds with it without increasing the strength of the spring and the pressure on the contact points.

We should be glad if you would let us know how the weights of these levers compare, both in respect to total weight and weight measured at the rubbing block with the lever pivotted at its normal bearing centre.

We require this information in connection with ignition developments for chassis and aero work whereby we shall make the necessary arrangements for trying out this new type of lever.

Weigh these carefully in Chem lab on balances and let me know results.
