MYTH STEERING.

We herewith confirm our recommendations for the Myth steering as discussed with you :-

(1) Marles type steering gear.

(2) Proportions of roller follower and rocking shaft reduced compared with B.V. in ratio.
3/ST/35 x Angular movement - B.V. / Angular movement - Myth.
The angular movement on Myth to be kept as high as possible.

(3) Turns from lock to lock = 3.

(4) No mechanical controls apart from one tension wire. Single tone horn ring or button.

(5) Column top bearing, tube proportions and wheel fixing as on Oldsmobile, of which By/Ald.{F. Allwood - Experimental Design} has particulars.

(6) Provision to be made for rubber universal joint in column.

(7) American type serrations on rocking shaft.

(8) Rocking shaft bearings adjacent to roller to be of anti-friction type.

(9) All ball pin shanks to be at right angles to direction of normal load.

(10) Parallel pivot pin with needle journal bearings and ball thrust bearing. Alternatively two angular contact ball bearings with crowded balls and preloaded. Provision to be made for reverting to plain thrust if found necessary.

(11) Provision for inserting additional sponge at pendulum lever ball pin as on Buick.

(12) Caster Angle ½°
