S/W. X5950 PN{Mr Northey}2/EH.13.1.28. To WOR.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} (text struck through) Copy to Sr (text struck through) Mr (text struck through) Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} RE: 20 H.P. TRIALS CARS - GAJ-53 - Barkerlite: GHJ-81 - Open Touring. I understand from EP.{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer} this afternoon that having placed the engine unit from the Open Touring car into the Barkerlite, no improvement has been effected. I gave instructions that the engine taken out of the Barkerlite car should be fitted to the Open Touring car, and if it is found that the Open car does not suffer in any way as a result of this, then this car should be sent to London as soon as possible. On the other hand, if the Open car does suffer at all then its engine must be replaced again and the car returned to us as soon as possible. I understand that Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} would like to have the closed car available for a fortnight in order to try out certain ideas he has with a view to improving this car and making it more suitable for our use. Although this length of time is a very serious one, I fear we have no alternative because the car is useless to us as it stands. Will Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}, therefore, please look upon this matter as of considerable urgency and report as soon as he may know of any results of interest. PN.{Mr Northey} CH (stamped) | ||
