402. C. Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} BY.5/G.5.5.39. BENTLEY V.{VIENNA} REAR AXLE RATIOS. With reference to the 50 cars which it has been agreed are to be built ahead of the main production, the axle ratios should be allotted as follows :- (a). 40 chassis ... 10/43 British requirements. (b). 6 " ... 10/41 French requirements - standard car. (c). 2 " ... 11/41 British type - Bentley 'Corniche'. (d). 2 " ... 12/41 French type - Bentley 'Corniche'. There is no work being done on the original 'Paulin' Bentley, that is the Bentley II series, but there are six sets of material of all the special parts required going through the Experimental Department ready to be used in the production of six Bentley 'Corniche' cars. The further two sets of material, which are going through the Experimental Department would be used in conjunction with chassis on production beyond the first 50 sets. BY.{R.W.
