(5) Engine Unit.

Certain items on this such as the 4 port cylinder head have been standardised. Certain other items such as the deletion of the hydraulic tappet mechanism is now running on 32-EX. The increased power output however, has made the engine rough. We have not yet managed to obtain a satisfactory degree of silence and smoothness.

20/25.HP. Dynamo and Battery.

No trouble has been experienced with these items.

(6) Flexible flywheel.

Is giving very promising results and we are making experiments to get the correct quantities. This is a long job.

(7) Exhaust system

Now running on 32-EX. This should give a big saving in cost and weight.

(8) Brake Lay-out

This seems to be quite satisfactory. This is ready to go on the next 15,000 miles Phantom III.

(9) Steering Gear and Levers.

Satisfactory results so far but endurance running is needed to test durability.

(10) Radiator and Bonnet.

The reduced depth of the radiator matrix has reduced the margin of safety on the cooling system too much.

(11) Lockheed Jacks.

The difficulty about these is that it is doubtful whether the Lockheed people can supply them at an economical figure.

(12) Lightened bumper bar

(13) Body Brackets and Spare Wheel Carrier Lightened
