To EFC. from E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} X.3362 16th October, 1918. E1/C161018. RE LIGHTING INSTALLATION AT WEST WITTERINGHenry Royce's home town. RECEIVED In accordance with Mr. Royce's instructions, we have returned to you the engine house switchboard and the distributor board which you sent us for the lighting installation. Mr. Royce does not like the woodwork, the finish of the woodwork, and the size and design of the switches. He would like to know who is the manufacturer of this material which we have returned. He thinks that perhaps the Ediswan Co. might be able to supply some smaller switches in cream porcelain. He would like these to be smaller and more in proportion to the miniature lamp holders. There is another firm that he mentioned, namely, Dorman & Smith, but so far as Mr. Royce's recollection goes, the material made by this latter firm is rather clumsy. The wooden bases should be left unvarnished and unpolished, with the wood perhaps just stained and left with the dull finish, and no stickiness about its appearance. Perhaps you would let us know what you are able to obtain to suit Mr. Royce's wishes. Referring to the lamps, it is desired to obtain some opal shades to fit the miniature lamp holders which you have sent us, which we note are adapted for these shades. Could you send us half a dozen of these. E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} | ||
