86142 E/S. To Mr. from E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} c.c. Mr. Plat. Exp-Car-Sect. Mr. Smith. Mr. HS{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Est. Eyre E.11/HP.23.8.33. Phantom 2 Vibrator Control. Replying to your memo PN.{Mr Northey}2/IH.3.8.33 we agree there is no reason why the starter push fitting should not be arranged to allow room for a cubby hole with its door on the nearside of the instrument board, as shewn in your sketch, but it is not possible for the starter carburetter fitting to be raised to act as a balance. We think, however, it would be better to arrange the starter button in the lower position balancing the starter carburetter fitting, and this would allow room for a cubby hole of the maximum size. This scheme is rendered a possibility since the damper control will not be on the instrument board but on the steering column, and the mixture control of the carburetter will be coupled up to the starter carburetter fitting.
