of the first Carburettor No. 14, tried on Mr. Hives'
of Vena Contracta.

The two halves of the Float were brazed,
and subsequently unbrazed with difficulty.

1. COMPOSITION.

The analysis of the material from which the Float was made showed the following composition:

Carbon . . . 0.16 % Max. 0.17%
Manganese . . . % 0.5 to 0.7%
Silicon . . . % Max. 0.04%
Phosphorus . . . 0.6 %
Sulphur . . . %
Chromium . . . % ... 1.0%

This steel corresponds to Specification ...

... HEAT TREATMENT ...

It should be hardened in oil from the following temperatures :-
