WST LE. c. Mr. Archer. c. Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} c. RHG/Mr. Goodwill. c. BY/Mr. 6118 BY.4/G.12.1.37. CHASSIS No. 3-AX-49. RE: CONTACT BREAKER LEVER SPRING. Referring to LE.5/C.6.1.37. the spring returned was much too hard due to serious under tempering. I am instructing the Works to return our stock which all seem to have a similar fault, and have quoted a vickers hardness range to which we must accept or reject the parts in future. In addition, we have written the suppliers Perry's Steel Nib Co. and given them a temporary temper-ature range to which they must work as well as the Vickers Hardness numbers to which they must conform. We are then certain we shall obtain springs consist-ently treated. BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} | ||
