To By.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} H6118 Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Wst.8/JH.4.1.37. INDICATOR FOR SYNCHRONIZING CONTACT BREAKERS. R.R.Scheme 969. We have now had the opportunity of testing the above indicator out and we give below a copy of Mr. Swindall's report on the same :- A push fit is not suitable for holding the indicator in position rigidly, and it is thought that a spring rivetted on the top and bent to fit in the can keyway in place of the present key, would be a more satisfactory job. With regard to the indicating grooves being in line with the locating slot of the distributor head, it is found that the groove should be approximately 8° to one side. As the locating slot is on the inside of the engine on "B" distributor the locating groove will have to be on the opposite side to "A" distributor. When this tool is used, the engine will have to be turned by the starting handle, a small lamp in series with the ignition wire if only one person is doing the setting of the contact breakers.
