The second way is to make one casting, threading the spindles in from the end and supplying holes in the top, to enable the operator to adjust the eccentricity.

The cutter drive is from a pulley onto a chain wheel shaft, through a universal joint shaft to a sun and planet gear box to the cutter spindle. The housing for the chain wheel shafts is made up of three castings - the central casting is connected to the 5" spindle casting by a steel frame work, or possibly on a separate stand on the floor, the outer castings can be regulated for centre distance by varying the packings.
