The small output of the Lucas 'Goshawk' dynamo and the effects of changing the brush setting.

ORIGINAL EFC2/T30.11.21. c. to CJ. c. to Bv. c. to Hy.{Tom Haldenby - Plant Engineer} _________________________________________________ X.43591 - LUCAS "GOSHAWK" DYNAMO. _________________________________________________ The small output of the Lucas dynamo at high speeds is partly due to the fact that the field brush was set in such a position as to meet our temperature limit condition on the peak load. With this setting, the output curve does not meet our specification. We have now replaced the brush to the maker's setting, which allows the machine to give a curve in accordance with our specification, and in the makers opinion the temperature reached by the dynamo with this setting will not be found too excessive in practice. We are therefore now running the dynamo like this on the chassis. The output is much more reasonable, and we shall see how it behaves. The sparking is rather bad on the negative brush. EFC. | ||
