X8950 PN{Mr Northey}1/DN17.6.26. [STAMP: RECEIVED 16 JUN 1926 FROM PN{Mr Northey}] [STAMP: SH] TO Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} c. to EP{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer} 7-LC - White Phantom Open Touring Car. I am anxious to know what progress the Works have been able to make in respect of the necessary attention which had to be given to this car before [struck through] it leaves this country about the 25th inst. in connection with the Chairman's tour abroad. I understand from CWB that the steering trouble which was found when testing this car recently in France, has been made normal. What is being done, or what has been done, to remove the "blanc mange" effect of the scuttle? I note that R.{Sir Henry Royce} refers to this in R3/M10.6.26, which was posted on 16.6.26, giving particulars of a modified method for attaching or holding the scuttle armature. When I last drove in this car I had the impression that the body might part company, in a cinema fashion, with the chassis at any moment. [Signature] P.N. | ||
