20/25 H.P. ENGINES FOR TANKS.

Please find herewith copy of schedule which the Technical Department is submitting to the Contracts Department in the course of the next few days with a view to placing a production order with us for engines of this type. This was discussed with Colonel Pile and other Technical Officials at the War Office this morning with the result that certain modifications were made as shown in ink.

The important new points are as follows:-

(1) The standby magneto will not be fitted. This will also cancel a certain amount of control work on the engine.

(2) With regard to the alteration of the position of the fan, a sketch is being sent direct by the War Office to E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} showing what is required.

(3) As discussed with Wst., the War Office are relying on us to screen the battery ignition system and are prepared to carry this screening right through as suggested in Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Wst2/AD.4.8.32. They will rely on us giving them details of what they have to do.

(4) We informed the War Office that the Tecalemit filter was preferred as stated by E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} over the telephone on Wednesday.

(5) It will be noted under "Electrical Fittings" that we are not to supply the switchbox.

(6) We are not to supply the red lamp scheme or water thermometer.

With the exception of the above it is thought that E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} will find everything as arranged.

F.{Mr Friese}
