SPECIFICATION OF COACHWORK. 16.G.4. CHASSIS. Special 'Twenty' for Mr.Royce's use. Dash to rear axle 93.ins. Wider and higher bonnet and dash. Balloon tyres 31x6 on 19ins. rims. TYPE OF BODY. 'TWO DOOR' FOUR SEATER' CLOSE COUPLED ALLWEATHER. See H.Sch.2627. FRAMING PANELLING & MOUNTING. Body to be framed in best English ash and built on the R-R.{Sir Henry Royce} Ltd. body subframe. The structure to be scientifically ironed by sheet metal gussets. Care to be taken not to introduce ironing which is already provided by the subframe, such as edge-plates. DOORS. Two doors to be hung on the screen pillars, each having three steel hinges. Handles to be approved by EV.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} Locks to be as small as possible to reduce the door thickness. Doors to be floating. HEAD. Head to be of metal of light construction such as the Beatonson or any other of similar construction. Covered with a rubbered waterproof fabric and unlined. Fabric to be chosen by EV.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} Two small rear lights of glass to facilitate folding. WINDSCREEN. Almost vertical and a single piece permanently fixed. TRIPLEX GLASS. .250ins. thick. Dual wiper, to be chosen later, to be supplied by R-R.{Sir Henry Royce} WINDOWS. Windows to be of TRIPLEX GLASS. .187ins. thick, in nickel plated frames. Q-T Lifters as used on 12.G.4. Lifter handle on the off-side door to be forward of the steering wheel, & clear of the brake lever. SCUTTLE VENTILATION. Flush ventilators of ample size to be fitted to the side of the scuttle only. WINGS & VALANCES ETC. Front wings to be partly completed by coachbuilders and finished by Derby. Rear wings to be completed by the coachbuilder and mounted entirely of the body and the subframe. Sufficient material,( board, linrubber and nickel angle) to be supplied to Derby to enable them to make the running- boards. CUSHIONS. Cushions and squabs to be up to the standard of exellence required by our Sales Dept. FLOOR COVERINGS. Floor boards aft of the first subframe crossmember only ot be supplied by the coachbuilder. Front and rear floor to be covered with sponge rubber. Carpet to be chosen by Ev.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} Floor-boards to be made gass-tight and rattle proof by edging with sponge rubber strip and held down by recessed hand screws. Underside of boards over the exhaust system to be lagged with sheet asbestos. | ||
