PHANTOM III GEARBOX.

We understand from the Test Dept. that 60% of the cars leaving the factory will jump out of third gear if overrun down a long hill.

We have overcome this trouble on three cars in this Dept. by fitting the "Concertina" driving piece to R.Sch.4896. We recommend that twelve of these are put through on production gearboxes so as to obtain more information as to whether they are a reliable cure.

One of these pieces has done four hours on dynamometer and considerable hill climbing.
