Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} 32 GTY- Have we had a failure which called for this mod? Instruct as required. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} c. E.Da.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} By.RHC.{R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer} E/HDY.{William Hardy}2/HP.26.10.36. Phantom III Gearbox. We send herewith a print of N.Sch.4940 showing a reduced journal diameter for the 2nd speed pinion, to allow enough thickness in the pinion bushes for oil grooves in the bushes instead of in the shaft. Oil grooves are now provided in the end faces. The bushes are pressed in and should have .001 — .00175 diametrical clearance on the shaft. N.Sch.4940 herewith.
