contd :- -2- to use only Woodhead springs until the tests on the bumping rig have proved the Firths springs to be equal to the Woodheads. The reason for fitting the Woodhead 12½% springs on 98-NK is to get tests through quicker as we realise it will be necessary to do a certain amount of work on 9-PK car before you could start another 10,000 miles test. We are rather interested in your remarks in connection with the servo gears on 98-NK because compared with the standard production cars, the servo gears on 98-NK car are very much quieter. The vibrations which you say are bad around 40 m.p.h. - are they with a light pressure on the servo, or a heavy pressure? The buffer springs on 98-NK are the old std. stiff ones. We have had trouble with low speed steering wobbles with the weaker springs which are fitted to 9-PK car. We will try and send you some springs about half-way between the two. Will you please wire us when the 10,000 miles are completed on 9-PK car. We would then recommend that you take the car to our Paris Depot and correct any known faults before you start running again. We recommend that you take off the bottom hald and have a look at the bearings. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} | ||
