Mr Barrington for T.C. X339 May 22nd. 1912. Further report on axle strength tests, standard 1700. With reference to the above the half which collapsed is .185" thick in the thinnest part (where it gave way) the other half is .225" thick in the thinnest part. The Drawing shows this to be .160" thick. The tube on the side which collapsed runs out .015" at the bearing for the spring seat, and the tube on the other side runs out .030" at the bearing for the spring seat. We would point out that it was the oil filler side which collapsed. [Signature] E.P. | ||
