The following 5 items have from time to time in Conference been mentioned as being urgently required on the 20/25 :- (1) 20/25 rear axle. (2) Isolated change speed mechanism. (3) RR-Marles steering with suitable controls. (4) RR. noise insulation scheme. (5) Water excluders on the front brakes. The position of each of these items at present is as follows :- (1) 20/25 Rear Axle with Hypoid Gears. The detail drawings for this have not yet been issued but will be circulated almost immediately. There is quite a lot of work involved. Delivery of gears from America is likely to be from two to three months. We are therefore using the hypoid gears which previously ran 10,000 miles on the 20/25. The only difference between these and the new gears ordered from America is in the taper on the pinion and an adaptor will be made so that correct bearings can be used. (2) Isolated Change Speed Lever. The scheme for this has just been received by the drawing office, but they require further design information to complete the work. The detail drawings they have already received will take 7 days. (3) RR-Marles Steering Column. Detail drawings for this received 26.4.35. Necessary controls to go with this column - the detail drawings will be issued within 7 days. | ||
