Details will be completed on the 15th inst. It will therefore be seen that unless some of these items are omitted from the specification, the car cannot possibly be ready to go to France for 5 or 6 weeks. Other items which we are proposing to fit to the car and which are mostly ready now, and therefore do not contribute to the delay of the car, are :- (1) 17" wheels. (2) Improved crankcase breather to LeC. 4438. The object of this modification is to prevent oil getting on the clutch via the rear main bearing. (3) Geared starter motor. (4) Stellited and austenitic exhaust valves. (5) New type lead bronze big end bearings without shim, drilled up connecting rod with oil groove in the rod. (6) Spring clutch centre to overcome over-run rattles without the necessity for a propellor shaft damper. (7) SpectreCodename for Phantom III type of petrol system with green light reserve. (8) Clutch fabric on the driven member. (9) Air cooled dynamo. (10) Wycliffe cast-iron drums. (11) Bentley bottom half and clutch pit.
