On Monday the 15th February, Garner gave a run to Southampton, with a client, and reported that the clutch became very rough. It started about 15 miles from London and got so bad that he had to start away in first gear, as in second gear it was impossible.

In first gear the take up was perfectly smooth and no sign of jagger.
