(For the attention of Mr. Hives). Dear Sir, Torsional Vibration We enclose herewith for transmission to Mr. Summers of The General Motors Corporation, U.S.A, a copy each of R.A.E. Reports Nos. E.3039 and E.3039 A.{Mr Adams} Will you please sign and return the enclosed receipt for these. Many Technical points of interest arise out of your letter of the 14th. ultimo, and the previous correspondence addressed to Major Carter, and we hope to forward some comments upon these shortly. The manner of functioning of the Oakland Balancer for any given application can be investigated for multi-crank engines from the known equations for vibration of a number of flywheels on a shaft and, by using graphical methods, it appears possible to avoid laborious computations. Yours faithfully, W.Sydney Smith Chief Superintendent, R.A.E. Attached:- Reports - ~~E.3039~~.ICE.523. ~~E.3039A~~.ICE.523a. [Handwritten on left margin]: ICE 523 + ICE 523a | ||
