400? HPS.{Horace Percy Smith - Experimental Factory Mgr} from Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} By.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} Da.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} PRODUCTION OF 2 MORE B.III CARS. We have not previously issued instructions for building two further B.III cars which are required, because we wish to avoid making scrap. The position now is, however, that drawings are available to enable an up-to-date specification to be prepared. We have ordered three frames from Thompson's, the main difference between these frames and the first B.III being that the section has been strengthened between the dashboard and the front pan, and the rear end of the frame has been boxed in. These frames should be delivered in about 5 weeks' time. The second B.III body has been in hand for a number of weeks, and should be finished by the time the frames arrive. A third B.III body is being put in hand almost immediately. Briefly, the specification will be as for B.50 except for the following:- Instrument Board as on 1st B.III. Electrical Equipment as on 1st B.III except for modified harness. Wider Front Brakes to P.D.132 & P.D.141. Delco Distributor. Clutch Pedal - FCD.519. Brake - FCD.600. Accelerator - FCD.606. Rear Axle as on 1st B.III. Road Springs - 6¼" deflection front springs. 5½" " Firth rear springs as on car at present. Radiator - shell modified slightly, drawings not yet issued, and interior to consist of adapted B.50 parts generally. | ||
