Hallam - Head Repairs}3/EW20.9.27. Re Axle Periods. Your Pt/FM15.8.27. It should be seen from our Quarterly Report that Rear Axle troubles at Derby, Cricklewood and Paris, are very small indeed, otherwise, they would appear on the Quarterly Complaint List. Actually, our records here show on only two occasions has it been necessary to replace Ball Bearing No. 365. We cannot reconcile the statement you make of Rear Axle "Periods", with worn Ball Bearings, as worn Ball Bearings, if they make a noise at all, make a noise all the way up the scale, not as "periods". We recommend that if you consider this complaint of Mr. Appleby's serious, you should test a car for yourself to make sure that he is on the right line, as it does not agree with our experience.
