X. 3513 - COMPARATIVE STRENGTH TESTS OF THREE MOULDING MATERIALS:-
'BAKELITE', 'ELO', & 'MOULDENSITE'

In these tests the specimens were rods .600" square section. These were successively clamped horizontally at one end and loaded at the other end at such a distance as to provide a free length of overhang of 6", until fracture occurred.

The loads necessary in the three cases were:-

Bakelite 53 lbs. 14 ozs.
Elo 54 " 10 "
Mouldensite 59 lbs. 6 ozs.

These figures correspond to breaking stresses of 8980 lbs/sq." 9105 lbs/sq" and 9897 lbs/sq" respectively.
