Brake Squeaks.
It was stated that it must be realised there is no permanent cure for squeaking brakes. The anti-squeak spring device has been found to be most effective when the spring is placed near the edge of the drum. It is considered that ferrobostos is definitely better than previously used materials, but good bedding is of the greatest importance.

It was decided no longer to recommend doping with paraffin, but that turpentine may still be recommended. BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} reported that no results were likely to come of the experiments with Nitralloy.

Boiling complaints. Works Experimental Department have obtained good results by adding Ethylene Glycol to the cooling water, - about 1 1/2 gallons. The cost of this dose is rather high, - about 30/-, and if for any reason the radiator has to be emptied the mixture should be preserved in consequence. It was not considered advisable to circularise this information to customers, but to tell them when necessary.

The over-heating trouble was discussed at length. Nor. is of the opinion that the job is diminishing and that the increase in the number of complaints dealt with last quarter was due to a special campaign, and is therefore abnormal. H.{Arthur M. Hanbury - Head Complaints} fears a further increase of these complaints during the warmer Summer months.

The new matrix came on to production after the first fifty Phantom II cars had been delivered, and there may consequently be some cases of complaint on Phantom II cars.
