Reply to be addressed to John Marston Limited for the attention of PHAM/IEE. Handwritten: L280.1114 Handwritten: STD 11th January, 1937. Dictated 8th January, 1937. Messrs. Rolls-Royce Ltd., Derby. Handwritten Signature: Arthur Bray/STD For the attention of Mr. Steadman. Dear Sirs, We have despatched this day, for the attention of Mr. Steadman, two Oil Coolers E.87820. One has a modified top plate to your design and is completed. The other is of the original type and is uncompleted. It has been assembled and dipped in a special frame, recently constructed. We forward this sample, untested, for your examination and approval. Coolers dipped in this frame and tested, up to this date, have proved consistantly sound and show a saving of 2-3 ozs. in weight. The difficulty of machining the flanges at the base of the unions without damaging the threads on the unions to a move or less degree is causing us some concern and we shall welcome your co-operation to overcome this difficulty. A small radius at the base, as illustrated in the enclosed sketch, would assist the maching operation. | ||
