To By.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} c. to E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} L5005 Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}6/KW.31.7.34. 25 HP. Flexible Engine Mounting - Production Specification. Referring to BY/SS.{S. Smith}2/J.28.7.34. we have the following comments to make on the Specification :- Front Engine Mounting. The radiator rubber to LeC.3920 appears to have been forgotten. This should be incorporated. With regard to the tie rods to LeC.3912, we want provisionally to have the parts made so that these can be fitted if we run into clutch trouble. At the present time we have not had enough experience with N.Sch.4150 to be certain that we shall have no clutch trouble when this only is fitted. With regard to LeC.3942, we should criticise this as being unnecessarily complicated and heavy considering that now it is only used for supporting the engine when the gearbox is removed. We should consider that Depots might have an adapter for holding up the engine when the gearbox is taken down in exactly the same way as they now have an adapter for holding up the engine when the timing case is removed. Possibly the matter could be taken up with Hd.{Mr Hayward/Mr Huddy} Rear Engine Mounting. The tie rod to N.Sch.4119 has of course been superseded by N.Sch.4150. Exhaust System. The support for the intermediate exhaust pipe to LeC.4059 requires modifying. The horizontal stay is retained, the [strikethrough]stay[/strikethrough] [handwritten: diagonal one] will want deleting. We confirm that a design is required for a flexible petrol pipe between the autovac and the induction pipe. | ||
