[Handwritten]: LID{A. J. Lidsey} x7 - 60. See me HS{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} [Typed]: S/W. (c. to [illegible], Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}) re- 40/50 h.p.Bonnets. Cx{Major Len W. Cox - Advertising Manager}18/KW7.11.32. I understand that the difficulty with regard to still longer bonnets on 40/50 h.p. chassis was pointed out to Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}, who appreciates the position. Can you let us know what was done to strengthen up the present bonnets where they become indented through the stop pieces coming into contact when the bonnet is thrown open and due to the great weight of the panels ? Hn{F. C. Honeyman - Retail orders} will be coming to W. this week to talk to you about longer bonnets on both models, but we are still very much against lengthening the bonnet on the 40/50 for the reasons above mentioned, and the fact that it would be very unweildy and heavy to open, and shut for any but tall and strong people. You may, however, find a compromise in a slightly lengthened bonnet for special designs which by reason of your having the drawing prepared for it would not cause a lot of trouble in your Drawing Office. We should naturaly only supply these under great pressure, and we are at present rather inclined to refuse any question of longer bonnets on our 40/50 h.p. chassis. Ox. | ||
