RE: 40/50 HP. BONNETS.

Cx.{Major Len W. Cox - Advertising Manager}18/KW.7.11.32.

The difficulty in connection with the still longer bonnets was pointed out in our recent memo to C. owing to the fact that a number of coachbuilders are calling for numerous sizes and varying shapes at the rear end, a matter which we shall discuss fully with Hn.{F. C. Honeyman - Retail orders} during his visit to W.

We quite agree with your remarks but the position has arisen, according to our view, that during the time when we were only selling a few chassis some Coach-builders fitted their own bonnets, when they got into the habit of making them to suit their own particular requirements. Lately, coachbuilders have ordered the bonnets from the Works, and have continued to call for them to be made to suit themselves.

At one time we resisted making long bonnets for the reasons you give, and we are pleased to know that you now consider that we should do so again, particularly so in the case of the 40/50 bonnets, which are already exceedingly heavy when made to our standard length and width.
