SPECIFICATION OF TEST RIGS.

AERO.

COOLANT PUMPS.

1.A. Merlin endurance test rig.

Two speeds required, 1,000 P.R.P.M. - for running in - and 3900 P.R.P.M. - normal.
Can be run either from line shaft or by A.C. fixed speed motor with suitable gear box.
Tank to hold 10 to 15 gallons - water or glycol.
Maximum temperature 180°C, pressure 30 lb./sq. in.
Water cooled tank with 2.kW electric heater or steam element required for starting purposes.

1.B. Merlin Performance Test Rig.

Variable speed, 15 HP. motor, 500 to 5,000 P.R.P.M.
Otherwise, as for 1.A. with addition of venturi meters for delivery tests.

1.C. Kestrel Endurance Test Rig.

Specification as for 1.A. - two speed or fixed speed 15 HP. A.C. motors with suitable gear box, 1,000 and 3900 P.R.P.M.

1.D. Kestrel Performance Test Rig.

Specification as for 1.B. - variable speed (500 to 5,000 P.R.P.M.) 15 HP. motor.

V.P. AIRSCREW PUMPS.

2.A. Kestrel & Hele-Shaw Performance & Endurance Tests.

3 HP. variable speed motor, 1,750 P.R.P.M. Oil tank capacity - 5 gallons with auxiliary pump to supply oil at 0 to 70 lb./sq. in. pressure at 15°C to 120°C to airscrew pump.
Three way tap on each pressure pipe for delivery tests - 1,000 pts./hr. at 370 lb./sq. in.
