Re: Bentley chassis No. B-171-AE
Capt. Eric Burt.

Referring to BY/Cgh.{W Clough}11/G16.1.34, Sales Dept. say they assumed the chassis would have a higher geared axle because it is now to be mounted with an Open body and their understanding was that every chassis on which Open bodies are to be mounted the higher geared axle is standard. They wish to know whether their understanding is correct. In any case Capt. Burt's chassis should be fitted with a higher geared axle; instructions have been issued accordingly.

With regard to the instruments, Sales Dept. understand that Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Wst has had some correspondence with the A.T. Co. on the question of modifying speedometers and rev. counters and that a sample pair of instruments have already been received, but we do not know whether they would meet Captain Burt's requirements as set out in Hn{F. C. Honeyman - Retail orders}17/I/11.1.34, and if so whether it would be possible to obtain a pair in time to fit to his chassis. Perhaps Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Wst can say how the matter stands.

If the instruments Sales Dept. have in mind would meet our customer's requirements and could be supplied in time, it might save the trouble of making up a special patch which they assume would be expensive. We should, of course, wish to know how much smaller than the present standard are the new instruments.
