Contd. -6- EFC1/T18.5.20. FULLER BATTERIES. The first sample Fuller batteries received were unsuccessful in most respects as already reported. Later, however, Messrs. Fuller sent us another battery (22) made as nearly as possible in accordance with our specification. This battery had some quite good points but did not show up very well on the high rate discharges. Terminals at opposite ends of battery. No heating up of connecting links on high rate discharge. All connections very well protected from corrosion. Vent plugs allow a little spraying when fully charged and freely gassing. The cells are sealed together in a block, and altogether the battery is a great improvement on those previously sent. It might be worth while putting this battery through a life test on the vibration rig when this is to hand. LUCAS BATTERIES. We have not been generally impressed with the Lucas batteries. Since previously reporting on these we have received another celluloid Lucas battery (20) which, although doing well on low rate discharge capacity tests, does not show up well on high rate discharge capacity tests. This battery was supposed to have been made to our specification, the terminals being in this instance at the opposite ends of the battery. There are good rubber-covered cable connections from cell to cell which do not heat up Contd. | ||
