X4117. Sèvres Hm{Capt. W. Hallam - Head Repairs}4/ET.21.3.32 To "C" LONDON c. to "Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}" DERBY Re: 40JS{Mr Johnson's Secretary} - Mrs. CORRIGAN Further to my Hm{Capt. W. Hallam - Head Repairs}2/ET.19.3.32 and in confirmation of our telephone conversation of this morning, I very much regret that our efforts to overcome the booming in this car have failed. We carried out a number of experiments over the week-end and examined the slipper drive. This was in perfect order. We endeavoured to try the effect of changing the axle and propeller shaft, but unfortunately we found that the one we had dismantled would not fit Mrs Corrigan's chassis. We examined the spare wheel support brackets. I met "Ps" and Marini on Saturday evening in Paris and they informed me that Mrs. Corrigan wished the car to be returned to Derby at once, and consequently I telephoned to you this morning to let you know the position and you agreed for the car to be sent over to England at once. It has now left Paris with our driver and will be shipped on the 11/a.m. boat from Boulogne to-morrow and you have agreed to send somebody to meet it at Folkestone and take it to Derby. I very much regret that our efforts have been of no avail as we should very much have liked to save the expense of sending the car to England. Marini has telephoned that he would like the car to go to BARKERS before it comes back to France as a certain amount of damag has been done to the coachwork during ours and BINDER's operations on the car. I hope that Derby will be successful in overcoming the difficulty and will be able to give Mrs Corrigan a car which will be to her entire satisfaction. "Hm{Capt. W.
