EP.{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer} from Hy.{Tom Haldenby - Plant Engineer} Hotel De L'Ouest, Laval Mayenne. 9.4.22. OUR COMMENTS On April 7th. the car ran 318 miles and on April 8th. 359 miles, making a total of 4,919 miles to date. Today we have spent in the garage and have oiled and greased the chassis throughout and have made a supervicial examination. We found that the hanger of the battery box was broken near the top bolt and the box was hanging down on the side stay. We were fortunate in discovering this before the battery fell off and have temporarily fitted the battery in the body until you send new hangers. We have sent off new brackets and have asked for the faulty ones to be returned for inspection, or possibly Hy.{Tom Haldenby - Plant Engineer} will show to R.{Sir Henry Royce} on arrival at La{L. A. Archer} Canadel with 6-G-II. We also examined the cross steering levers again and found them to be as we last measured them.. The ball joints were quite slack and had to be adjusted. All the shock absorbers ball joints were very slack and required a bit of adjustment. Hy.{Tom Haldenby - Plant Engineer} has had to adjust these previously. He should take this up with R.{Sir Henry Royce} at La.{L. A. Archer}Canadel. (Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} reports that R.was considering a different scheme of ball ends for shock absorbers). There are no leather covers on this car, but they are fixed to 6-G-II. We are also arranging to fix some improved type on 7-G-II (Ex Amateur Trials Car). We are also making a special point of noting that the ball end fittings on 7-G-II are correctly fitted up and functioning correctly. The balls of the rear shock absorbers are worn away so much that the play cannot be taken out of the joints. The undershield keeps the engine clean except at points where the exhaust pipe & the pendulum lever break through & at these points the front wheels drive the mud through. If a little baffle | ||
