Response to an inquiry about using a wooden clip on a clutch pedal and a holding-out piece for a cotton fabric-lined clutch.

Dear Sir,

In reply to yours of the 20th November, we have to say that we have tried the wooden clip for the clutch pedal on a modern car, and find that it effectively holds the pedal out, though we think that the load imposed on the foot plates is perhaps not very desirable, as these are not designed to take a great local pressure of this kind.

We cannot, however, recommend the use of any holding-out piece as we do not agree that with the cotton fabric-lined clutch it is necessary to hold out the clutch at all.
