-2- W.III No.9 UNIT - Cont'd.{John DeLooze - Company Secretary} Check whether any overoiling on opening up after idling. Take open exhaust power curve. Timing gears. It is important that the timing gears are quiet both in respect of rattle and whine. Check under load and light. This is one of the features complained of when in chassis. Piston Knocks. Also complaint, check cold and hot. Valve gear. With standard clearance note whether any undue noise from valve gear both cold and hot. Ignition. Check that governor curve is correct characteristic. On Redline fuel check detonation and power (with silencer) on std. TDC setting also 5° PTDC and 5° BTDC. Roughness. This unit has been complained of as being rough and it should be noted as far as possible whether this engine is any rougher than usual. Unit should be generally tuned up and passed off without complaint. NO.5 TEST HOUSE. B.60 NO.1 UNIT. Complete the tests as per previous programme on the experimental enlarged throat head Exs.1383. This should be repeated on a standard type of B.60 cylinder head. Continued. | ||
