Re. 25HP ENGINE GEAR RATTLES.

Sg{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD}8/E20.7.33.

There is no question that this is a feature which has been a problem right from the beginning of the Synchro-mesh Series coinciding with the increased power output engine.

We feel that even with all our knowledge and experience of this job and working to the finest possible limits with regard to pitch line clearances on gears, we do not know how to produce cars which are likely to remain entirely free from this trouble.

Judging from some of the cases which have been returned to the Repair Dept. at the Works we feel we cannot by anything we can do with the existing design, expect to be entirely free from a percentage of complaints.

In this latter connection we have despatched 816 Chassis of this type. It is reasonable to expect that at least 700 of these are in service.
