To Sft.{Mr Swift} from Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}11/KT.21.7.33. EXPL. ENGINE TIMING GEARS. B.I. UNIT. We have handed this unit to production with a special cam wheel which contains a damped spring drive. For the moment this is locked solid. We are asking production to use this cam wheel and in conjunction with it get a set of timing gears which would pass present production requirements. We should preferably like the gears to rattle rather than sing. When they have completed the job we should like to have the engine back for experimental work on the cam wheel.
