People point to the Napier speed records and say that we can show nothing of the sort. I fully realise that we cannot attempt to beat the Napier speed records without building a special engine, and it would not be worth our while to make the attempt, but I do think it would be worth our while to show a considerable speed, say, 100 miles per hour, with our standard engine, combined with the proof of reliability which is obtained by a demonstration of high speed running continuously for 100 miles. I should be glad to hear from the Committee why they do not consider this programme to be in the best interests of the Company, and what information they have which makes them think that the carrying out of this programme will not This sheet must be filed with the correspondence to which it refers. | ||
