ts470 NOT. c. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} NEW PHANTOMCodename for PHANTOM I ACCELERATOR PEDAL. x S470 Referring to Da{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}/Ev{Ivan Evernden - coachwork}1/M.21.8.25. and CWB3/LH.{Mr Haworth} 27.8.25, attached to BJ's memo BJ2/H.28.8.25, the position is that we have just received a new design of pedal. It has been detailed and issued to the Experimental Dept. with the object of finding out whether the change made is sufficient to overcome the trouble. The movement for the new accelerator pedal lies between the old 40/50 and the New PhantomCodename for PHANTOM I. It was therefore considered necessary before instructing same up for production to obtain Experimental Dept's views on the matter, and incidentally that Sales should try it as well before we committed ourselves. With reference to the complaint in regard to the length of travel of the present type accelerator pedal, this matter was drawn to West WitteringHenry Royce's home town's attention very early on in the experimental work. In addition to this, we wrote West WitteringHenry Royce's home town pointing out that Sales also complained in regard to same, asking for a modified design. This particular complaint has been kept before West WitteringHenry Royce's home town from the start. It was discussed with Da{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} and E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} during R's absence in France. We wrote again early in June, pointing out the need for some change, and are therefore surprised that after waiting all this time and doing nothing, Ev.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} should suddenly, in an excess of energy, do something in a hurry as if nothing had been known previously, whereas the matter has been referred to over and over again.
