I do not consider the Edison batteries are suitable for a self starter, the E.M.F. drops considerably if any sort of a load is taken from them. They are not very satisfactory even for lighting because they will not keep the lamps going for any time in traffic when the dynamo is not working. I do not think we should save much in weight either in comparison with the output of these cells.

We cannot see what happens to the plates of these cells unless we cut one open after a test.

We shall be having a 24 volt battery in for the Scott starter soon and we can get a comparison with that.

X 1198 I suggest we get particulars of the Willard batteries similar to those that are used on the Peerless, as the one we are using is giving every satisfaction.
