(R.D. 408. 26-4-17.) Bm. 2/158/13. X.3199 EFC7/T.11.17 To EY/HBO. from EFC c. to EY. X.3173 - BATTERY IGNITION FOR AERO ENGINES. X.3445 X.3199 This is to confirm that as arranged in conversation, you will instruct up one experimental R.R. coil for our battery ignition with the inside end of the secondary winding brought out to the high tension terminal in addition to the ordinary high tension terminal. This is for experimental purposes and to enable us to determine definitely the effect of connecting the secondary in various ways to the primary circuit and noting the effect on the secondary spark and more particularly on the sparking at the contact points. We are going into the matter of battery ignition for the aero engines quite thoroughly and are making all possible measurements on the two types of Remy coils and collecting together all the information we have, or can obtain on these coils, and we shall issue all this information in due course. We thus hope to put the battery ignition for the aero engines on a solid foundation. EFC. | ||
