To BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} from Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Les.{Ivan A. Leslie} X7410 Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Les.12/KT.27.7.33. c. ROY.{Sir Henry Royce} c. RHC.{R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer} ROLLED EYE P.II. ROAD SPRINGS. The only reason for running rolled eyed against solid eyed road springs on the bumper is to see if any bijur oil leaks develop round the pipes in the eyes. We find that the springs you sent us to test leak badly. This is due to the fact that the incorrect bushes have been fitted. The springs with these bushes are quite impossible from a point of view of oil leaks. In order that we may test a fair sample of what the makers will supply, we can see no alternative to returning the springs to the makers with the correct bushes. New pipes have to be fitted into the eyes when the bushes are changed. When the springs are returned from the makers we suggest that they should be pressure tested before they are fitted to the bumper chassis. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Les.{Ivan A. Leslie} | ||
