Re:-Security Bolts & Bolt Valves.

With further reference to my H2/H26.7.23 and to Wor {Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} 6/M26.7.23, in view of BJ's return next Monday and the probability of a discussion of this urgent matter at the Conference on the following day, will you kindly let me know whether it has been further considered by Wor. {Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} , By. {R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} , Hs. {Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} and yourself since Wor {Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} 's memo of the above reference and my memo of the same date and above reference, which crossed each other.

We may say that the position is rendered more urgent by the fact that we have a case, on Chassis 32-ZG, of a beaded edge Dunlop Cord Tyre leaving the off-side rear wheel entirely when the car was doing 50 m.p.h. We have to congratulate ourselves that the tyre came off a rear wheel and that the driver was successful in pulling up without destroying anything more that the wheel itself.

The wheel tyre and tube were sent to Dunlops, I believe, 10 days ago, but we have up to date no explanation whatever from them.

We should be very glad if you, Wor {Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} , By, & Hs. {Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} would further discuss the matter and let us know whether you think it would be better policy to insist on Dunlop's designing security bolts suitable for their beaded Cord Tyres rather than to endeavour to fix the responsibility on them when a Rolls-Royce owner breaks his neck.
