20/25 HP. RADIATORS.

Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager}3/R.11.9.33.

One of the two loose shell radiators has been in use on Chassis 19.G.IV. ever since it was received from the Works. During this period the car has covered 3,706 miles and the radiator has given no trouble.

The weight of the loose shell radiator is 6 lbs. in excess of the standard type; there is no gain in efficiency and RHC.{R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer} is of the opinion, which I understand is confirmed by the Works, that the cost will be greater than the present radiator.

When Springfield constructed a similar radiator the object was to facilitate chromium plating. As we gain nothing in cost, weight, efficiency, or appearance, there appears to be very little use in carrying on with the tests on these radiators.

These new radiators are chromium plated instead of staybright, so that the finish will not be as durable as the present radiator.

As long as we insist on the square corners and flat surfaces it does not appear that we can obtain any gain from the loose shell construction.
