Please note that the brake test figure for the 3½ litre Bentley is below the average figure for 52 British cars.

I am no admirer of the pseudo experts of the "technical"press, but the conclusion here must be that the Bentley's brakes are in no way outstanding when compared with a number of cars the average cost of which work out at £387.

I had not intended to go further into this question of brakes with Rolls Royce, as I was so disgusted with their treatment and outlook that I had decided to dispose of the car and purchase another make.

However, Mr Summers gave me to understand that you were interested in the matter, and I will therefore defer my decision until I hear from you. I should like to keep the Phantom as it is an excellant car in many ways. The brakes, however have been a continual source of trouble, and the manufacturers seem to be either unable to or uninterested in getting them right.
