TBB12/L3512. part instructed May 3rd.1912. Mr Royce Mr Johnson tests Re Trusses and Deep Frames -------------------------- The details of the truss sent from France will be issued to-day (May 3rd.) Two of the 9" frame sets have been delivered and the third (.140 thick) will be delivered early next week. Will you kindly advise us if we shall do anything with these or if they should be scrapped. Each member is 4 lbs lighter than our present standard. Mr Platford is trying to obtain a suitable body for the purpose of testing a 12" frame. This has been running for some time on chassis 1926 but it is difficult to make definite tests with the bodies which we have at our disposal, but the Experimental Dept. are of the opinion that it overcomes to a considerable extent our body rattles. The alignment of the gear box and engine of this 12" frame has remained quite constant up to the present, and this point will be kept under very careful observation. Mr Bailey informs us that Mr Royce is anxious that the 12" frame should not be abandoned, and we are there fore endeavouring to obtain a suitable body for the purpose of test.
