Copy. Copy of letter from Jack Barclay Ltd. George Street, Hanover Square, W.1. JDB/BRR. 24th August, 1933. Messrs Bentley Motors (1931) Ltd, 16 Conduit Street, W.1 Dear Sirs, During the last few days I have been round to various coachbuilders, looking at certain coachwork that I am having built and naturally, I could not help but see the new Bentley car. I thought I would like to mention one or two points which, in my opinion, could be improved. For instance, I consider that the radiator could be made much more imposing. One of the finest examples of this that the Bentley Company turned out, was, I think, the 4-litre radiator: it really was the greatest achievement of the whole chassis. Another improvement would be for the bonnet hinge to be raised to the level of that of the waistline of the body. I take it that the wheel caps on these chassis are only temporary ones: the most suitable type for a Sports car, in my opinion, are the knock on and off type used on practically every racing car. Also I noticed that there is no magneto. It occurs to me that this might give rise to trouble, as, from my experience, many owners of private cars leave them out all night on occasions, which might entail pushing the car next morning to start it. I hope you will accept these suggestions of mine as indicating my interest in the new Bentley. Yours faithfully, (Sgd) Jack Barclay. Managing Director. JACK BARCLAY LIMITED. | ||
